Knee tendinitis
Knee tendinitis is clinically defined as inflammation of the tendons within the knee area. The primary etiology of this condition is excessive physical exertion. When the tendons can no longer withstand the mechanical load, microtraumas occur, leading to the development of inflammation.
The condition is treated conservatively. Analgesics and anti-inflammatory drugs are prescribed for symptom relief. To accelerate recovery as part of joint tendon treatment, physical therapy is indicated. Surgery is required only in cases of a complete tendon bundle tear.
High-risk groups
Professional athletes are in the high-risk group. The main symptom of patellar tendonitis is pain of varying intensity.
Arthro-medullary shunting is not used as a standalone treatment for joint tendon disorders.
However, in the event of surgical intervention, shunting promotes faster rehabilitation, mitigates postoperative inflammation, and prevents the future development of knee osteoarthritis.
